Court Street

Project Overview
69 Court Street – Historic Transformation for Fine Art Storage
Located in the heart of Newark, New Jersey, the Crozier Building at 69 Court Street is a landmark of journalistic and industrial heritage. Originally constructed in the 1920s, it became the long-time home of The Star-Ledger, serving as the newspaper’s headquarters from 1929 until 2005. Following its acquisition by Iron Mountain, the building was reimagined as a secure art storage and logistics hub under the Crozier brand.
Hobo Construction was brought in to lead the complete interior redevelopment of this former printing facility. Our team executed a full-scale demolition of all existing industrial infrastructure, followed by the construction of state-of-the-art, climate-controlled storage rooms engineered to meet museum-grade specifications.
In addition to precision environmental controls, we built refined showroom floors to support the display of high-value art collections. A new elevator shaft and fully integrated elevator system were also designed and installed to optimize movement and functionality across multiple levels.
This project exemplifies Hobo Construction’s strength in adaptive reuse and specialty construction, delivering secure, climate-stable, and architecturally elevated environments for the fine art and cultural sectors.
